Swimming

Swimming is one of the best forms of exercise for your dog. Just one minute of swimming can equal up to four minutes of running! It provides numerous health benefits to the heart and lungs, inflammation, metabolism, and circulation which helps keep the skin and coat healthy. Plus, moving against the resistance of the water uses every major muscle group, improving overall tone and strength. A healthy, happy dog can run, play, and have fun for longer with less risk of injury.

Not only is swimming great for your dog’s physical health, it also improves their mental well being. Just like you, dogs need mental stimulation in the form of play, fun, and varied activities to help them stay sharp and happy. Swimming allows dogs the freedom to get out all their pent-up energy without feeling restrained. Plus, a happily worn-out dog is more likely to look forward to going home and sleeping, allowing them the restorative benefits of a good night’s sleep.

All of our swims are private sessions and by appointment only, and have a 24 hour cancellation policy.

Whether your dog has health concerns or lives an active lifestyle, it is always important for you to talk with your Veterinarian before starting a new exercise routine.

Our “New Client Swim” is a 45 minute private session with your own swim coach that will be guiding and supporting your pup at all times. At arrival a staff member will meet you outside and take you to the warm water indoor pool where a swim coach will gently introduce your pup to the pool. Depending on the individual needs of your pup, the swim coach will focus on swimming technique, confidence, exercise, relaxation and toy or treat play. You will be present poolside during the swim to cheer on and engage your pup to have a great experience, but will not be getting in the pool itself. We have plenty of toys, treats, floating aids and towels at the pool. You are welcome to bring your pups favorite toys and treats.

Whether your dog has health concerns or lives an active lifestyle, before starting a new exercise routine it is always recommended that you talk with your Veterinarian to make sure swimming is a good fit for your pup. Any dogs with heart or lung conditions MUST have written consent from their Veterinarian for swimming as it is not always recommended for their own safety.

Please book a “New Client Swim” session through Mind Body Online (MBO). If you prefer, you can also contact us directly at info@therexcenter.com .

All of our swims are subject to a 24h cancellation policy. If you do not receive an email confirmation after booking, please contact us to verify that your swim is scheduled.
